Welcome » Welcome

Dear Hidden Valley Elementary families,

Hidden Valley is a traditional neighborhood school with students and staff who are wonderfully diverse. Our school has been open for more than half a century – 54 years – and we are committed to excellence and student achievement.  Our goal is to empower our school community so that our students exceed as learners, excel as leaders and embrace their role as life-long learners, so we can own our future and make the world a better place.

At our school, we are building each year on our long history, setting higher goals for ourselves and the students of Hidden Valley. Our curriculum is standards-based and we analyze assessment data to drive instruction.  We supplement academic programs with the Greater Enrichment Program that provides extracurricular activities after school for more than 100 students.  Project Cares also provides after-school enrichment and tutors for more than 60 students. To meet individual needs, our school has a Talent Development teacher and we also provide Exceptional Children services. More than half of our students speak a language other than English at home and we have six English as a Second Language teachers on our staff. I invite you to participate in our school community as often as you can. Please remember to register as a CMS volunteer. All volunteers must register each year and select Hidden Valley Elementary as the site. Please also remember to bring your ID to sign in upon entering the school as we are working diligently to keep our school safe.

Hidden Valley has made steady gains across the board in each of the past three years.  Our students’ composite scores on state tests increased to 47 percent proficient, up from 38 percent three years ago. The percentage of our students who are on track for college and career readiness has also increased, rising to 38 percent from 27 percent. Our school has been removed from the state’s list of low-performing schools. We received a grade of C from the state for the 2018-2019 year.

Thank you,

Daniel Gray, Principal
